The other day I was in town and as I came off the highway there was a man sitting at the base of the light pole at the exit with a sign on his chest that read: “Smile, God loves you.” I smiled as I read the sign and he smiled and waved at me in return.
You know, the thought of him sitting there, smiling and waving at those driving by, stayed with me for many hours, actually days. He was asking for nothing else, only a smile, and I smile inside even now as I think of him there.
I find it amazing that even in the grocery store, with masks on in these days of covid-19, we can recognize a smile of someone we do not know, whose eyes only we can see because of the mask. How it boosts our spirits as we rush about the store, clambering intently, only on getting the supplies we need.
So smile as you hurry past another shopper or store employee. You might just make their day and as a matter-of-fact, you might just make your own day. I tried it today and was so blessed!
